Buying a birthday card is a simple task, but when you look at a wall of cards which just don't seem to address the child you know and love, it can feel difficult. Children can be fickle and change their minds about things they like from day to day. What was once their favorite book, toy or show may now be a distant memory. Find a card guaranteed to please your child with these simple tips.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Know the child for whom you are buying a card. What is their favorite color? What is their favorite show? Knowing as much as you can about the child makes it easier to get them a card they like.
Step2
Ask the child's parents and siblings what they think the child would like. If you've found a good card, but you're not sure it's the right card, call someone else who knows the child well for a second opinion.
Step3
Choose a card that is mostly pictorial rather than written. It's more fun for a child if he can understand and have fun with the card by himself without having to have someone read it to him.
Step4
Buy a card that is not too complicated for the child. As adults, we get used to buying things for friends that have inside jokes or are very subtle. A child needs a card which has a clear, strong message.
