Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Leave the computer off. Don't log onto the Internet for any reason in order to avoid the media. If you must, only go to the sites that you are certain to not see an offending headline or news blurb. Check only your work or school email address, and leave any AOL or Yahoo! for a later date.
Step2
Listen to things you know will have no newsworthy information while in your car. Pop in a CD, listen to your MP3 player, or drive in silence. When you have to avoid the media, silence can be golden.
Step3
Tune out the crowd. At work or school, leave your MP3 player on loud enough to drown everyone out. They may begin talking about Harry Potter before you have a chance to run the other way. If you do hear a conversation begin about a topic you want to avoid, simply turn away and begin to talking to someone else in a loud voice to drown them out.
Step4
Don't buy a recent newspaper or magazine. To avoid the media you must be vigilant about turning a blind eye to any form of information that may leak stories about your missed show or give another account of how Paris Hilton fared in jail.
