Step 1
Obtain a copy of your credit report from each of the three major credit reporting companies: Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. You are entitled to one free copy per year of your credit report.
-
Step 2
Look over your credit report and confirm all of the transactions listed. Check for fraudulent reports and any negative reports. Make sure the negative reports are accurate by comparing them with your own records.
-
Step 3
Become familiar with the Credit Repair Organizations Act. A credit repair company is legally required to give you a booklet with the details of this act explained. The act is to protect consumers from being taken advantage of by credit repair services.
-
Step 4
Explain any false or negative charges on your credit report to your credit repair service. They should be able to help you remove all false charges from your records. Accurate negative charges cannot be legally removed by credit repair companies.
-
Step 5
Pay the credit repair service only after they have removed any inaccurate reports on your credit report. You don't have to pay them before they do this or if they do not succeed in getting them removed.

on 6/25/2008 I recommend using a credit repair service to take negative items off of your credit report! I tried for years to take erroneous & inaccurate items off of my reports myself and had no luck! Then, I came across ACE (American Credit Experts). They are a member of the better business bureau and have been in business for over 16 years!! They are VERY REASONABLY priced & you pay monthly AFTER the work is done for the month!! They have month-to-month contracts & you can cancel at ANYTIME! Plus, they have a guarantee that after 2 rounds of challenges & 2 responses, if they are unable to improve or remove a single item, you get your first 2 months fees back!! GUARANTEED!!!
* * * I spoke to Rachel G & she was EXCELLENT!! Her direct # is 1-866-290-0773 * * *
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT ACE IS THAT IF YOU REFER SOMEONE & THEY SIGN UP FOR THE CREDIT REPAIR, ACE MAILS YOU $25 FOR EACH PERS

on 3/13/2008 A credit repair company disputes the items on your credit report to being reported correctly. If any part of that items is incorrect the agency reporting it should verify the accuracy by the law or remove it from your credit report. By using a credit repair company they know how to use the law to your favor. They are not using fraud. A good credit repair company is Credit Investigation Service and the fee is reasonable. Their web site is creditinvestigationservice.com you should try them out.
