How to Get Better at Being You

For ages we were told to be ourselves. But living in a dynamic environment where we are constantly influenced by the media and other people, it's easy to lose track of our true identity.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Identify your true nature. Over the years, you've probably become someone others want us to be. Although this isn't always a bad thing, knowing what defines your core personality will help you accept and portray yourself better. Having a clear foundation helps build your evolving personalities without altering your true self.
Step2
Take brief moments during the day to reflect on you. Understand where you are in your life by assessing your positive traits and weaknesses. This will build your self esteem and confidence to make a better you. Remember, being a better you is a work in progress.
Step3
Modify your tastes, styles and manners to suit the changing times and your changing perception of the world instead just giving up your originality and copying whatever is trendy.
Step4
Understand that there is no clear right or wrong way to perfect being you. Allow yourself to grow naturally with time. Being open and accommodating changes doesn't alter the true person that you are, but rather sharpens your base.
Step5
Listen to your heart and speak from your mind without offending anyone in the process. Make sure your actions don't conflict with your values and preferences. Look back at your life once in a while to see where you started.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be mindful of other's ideas and views without being disrespectful. Being yourself doesn't mean rejecting others.
