Step 1
Analyze your skin type. Maybe it's dry and flaky, or perhaps you're prone to breakouts. Also think about how easily you tan--or burn. Knowing your skin's specific needs makes it easier to find the perfect moisturizer.
-
Step 2
Go to a store that carries a wide range of skin care products (many stores now carry product lines that are specifically for men). A department store is a good choice, as are stores like The Body Shop, Bath & Body Works and Sephora.
-
Step 3
Ask for help. The store employees know their product lines well, and they can help you find the right moisturizer for your skin type.
-
Step 4
Test the moisturizer to make sure it's not too greasy or heavily scented. See how long it takes for the moisturizer to absorb into your skin. Rich, creamy moisturizers take longer to absorb but are generally more effective than thin, fast-absorbing moisturizers.
