Clothes come today with the tags that say "wash and wear." Still, there are some fabrics that just seem to wrinkle no matter that you dried them in the dryer and used a dryer sheet. Using an iron to press your clothes may seem old-fashioned, but the difference you see in how they look is very in style.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Purchase an iron and an ironing board to press your clothes. These items can be bought at most discount stores and many department stores.

  2. Step 2

Set up the ironing board. Make sure the legs are firmly in place. Test it for security before beginning to iron your clothes.

  3. Step 3

Steam your clothes by adding water to the iron. Then plug the iron in, and wait for the temperature gauge to tell you it's ready.

  4. Step 4

Begin ironing your clothes by taking the piece of clothing to be pressed and laying it on the ironing board. Then apply the hot iron directly to the clothing. Keep moving the iron up and down. Do not linger too long, or you may burn or scorch your clothing.

  5. Step 5

Apply the iron to the collar, body and sleeves of the shirt or blouse, pressing up and down with strokes that navigate the entire piece of clothing. Apply to each pant leg, making sure to cover all of the fabric. Press lightly but firmly. Keep moving the iron.

  6. Step 6

Look at your clothes when you are finished. Keep an eye out for wrinkles. If there are any, place this piece back on the ironing board, and apply the iron to the area where the wrinkles appear. Smooth out the wrinkles with the iron.

  7. Step 7

Wear your clothes with pride now that they are wrinkle free.

Tips & Warnings
  • The iron is very hot. Do not touch the silver side or you may burn. Always hold the iron's handle.
