Step 1
Purchase a deer stand suitable to your needs. There are temporary, permanent and portable stands, stands with seats only, reclining stands for comfort and deer blinds that are completely enclosed. When purchasing a stand, look at the directions so see how difficult the installation will be.
-
Step 2
Find a sturdy tree in a good location. Make sure the tree is in a good area for deer hunting. Choose a tree that is healthy and not rotting or leaning.
-
Step 3
Consider how high you need to be in the tree when choosing a tree. You should be at least 20 to 30 feet in the air so deer can not smell you. Make sure there aren't any limbs or branches in your line of sight or shooting can become difficult.
-
Step 4
Attach the stand to the tree, following the directions included with the deer stand. If the stand is portable, you can install it and take it down each time you hunt, making it easier to change your location while buying only one stand. Some stands should be put together before installing on the tree. Make sure to have the correct tools if any are needed.
