Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Determine the area that is being hunted. If there are good open areas looking out onto fields or streams, this would be an ideal area to put up the deer stand. In a very dense or thickly overgrown area, a tree deer stand might work better than a tower stand.
Step2
Ask the salesperson at the local sporting goods or hunter's supply store what he recommends for the season. Each season brings with it inherent differences from the season before and a seasoned hunter can best advise for the correct equipment.
Step3
Consider what equipment will be taken during the season and what the specific hunter's physical abilities are. Tree deer stands may offer a better option for trail deer and deep woods game, yet a tower stand can be more easily accessed.
Step4
Find a tower stand that has a removable ladder to keep out other hunters during the season.
Step5
Buy a larger tower model for an extra hunter or to include the children. Many models offer window flaps on all sides for better viewing and sturdier floors for chairs or benches.
