The Kimkins Diet is a controversial dieting program developed in 2000 by a woman named "Kimkins." She claims she designed and used the program to lose 198 pounds and has kept the weight off since. You can lose weight on the Kimkins Diet if you and your doctor agree the very low-carb, no-fat program will benefit your health. However, you should know that many have speculated that this diet is not a safe and healthy way to lose weight.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Educate yourself about the Kimkins Diet. You have to actually join the plan to get menus and food choices, but the basics involves non-fatty protein with very low carb veggies. This supposedly creates a thermogenic effect that stimulates the body's ability to burn fat.

  2. Step 2

Consider your health when thinking about any diet program. People with conditions such as morbid obesity and diabetes have reported no longer needing medication after their weight loss on the Kimkins Diet. The other end of the spectrum is that it is an extreme program.

  3. Step 3

Sign up for a trial, 10-day subscription by providing your email address on the form found on the website provided below. You'll get a newsletter that includes success stories, recipes and diet tips. It will provide you with more information to decide whether or not you want to join the program.

  4. Step 4

Get more specifics, but only if you join. A lifetime membership will cost $59.99. Membership will include the diet specifics, food lists, sample menus, recipes, support forums and more.

  5. Step 5

Review the reviews. There's no better way to learn more about something than from the experiences of others. Do some Google searching for message boards, blogs and forums that discuss the pros and cons of the Kimkins Diet and other weight loss plans.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check with your doctor before beginning any weight loss program.
  • The Kimkins diet has come under extensive scrutiny and has been described by some as a scam. Make sure you investigate all the specific details of the program before you commit to anything.

on 12/30/2007 Please don't join the plan to view the diet. I have outlined the original plans here: http://pinchof.blogspot.com/2007/06/okay-some-kimkins-stuff.html plus you can find an example of her guidelines that went with the plans here: http://pinchof.blogspot.com/2007/08/low-fat-side-of-kimkins-diet-part-1.html

as well as an example of the mind set and advice that has made her so unpopular here: http://pinchof.blogspot.com/2007/07/kimkins-and-kimmer.html

But I also want everybody to know that she gives this type of advice to 14 year old girls as well which has been witnessed on her forum. Her diet has been marketed to teenagers as well through spreading false rumours over the internet that famous celebrities like Jessica Alba have used her diet to even answering teenagers questions on yahoo answers to flog the diet to them.

From my observations this diet seems to promote eating disord

on 12/13/2007 Please do NOT try this at home.

The Kimkins Diet is a scam!

The diet itself is a very low calorie starvation diet. The diet promoter lied about losing the weight, she took pictures from various Russian Bride websites to use as her "alleged" after picture and for the fabricated "success stories".

Kimkins is the subject of a class action lawsuit. If you have been a victim of the Kimkins scam, you may be eligible to participate in the lawsuit. Visit the website: http://kimkinslawsuit.wordpress.com/

on 12/13/2007 The founder of this diet has never lost weight. Her claims of a 198lb loss are false. PI surveillance pics show she remains morbidly obese.

Also the diet is promoted to be a very ,ow calories diet, less than 500 cals/day. The founder has no nutritional experience or education. She is running a scam.
