Step 1
Select a submersible pump that meets the requirements for the sizes water garden pool you installed earlier. Depending upon the location of your pond, you may or may not have access to an electrical outlet. Consider whether you will need an electric or solar powered pump. Remember to keep electrical cords outside of the pool during installation and while the pump is running to avoid electrocution with the water.
-
Step 2
Place a large rock or brick with a flat surface at the bottom of your pool. Using an elevated surface will ensure the pump is not clogged with debris that settles on the bottom of the pond over time. The location of the pump is completely up to your personal preference and the size of your pool. Just be sure that if the pool is long, to center the pump—or you can install a second pump to maintain water movement in all areas of the pool.
-
Step 3
Install the filtration system onto the pump. The filter belongs at the front of the pump and will clean the water as it enters the filter.
-
Step 4
Connect the water hose to the pump. The pump will draw the clean water from the filter through the hose and up to the outlet where it will release the water into the pool.
-
Step 5
Fill your pool with water and de-chlorinate it before testing the pump. Turn your pump on and watch your water garden come to life.
