A bonger is an ancient Oriental massage tool. It is made of a wooden handle, with a flexible metal neck and a hard rubber ball on the end. It is fantastic at working out knots and getting rid of muscle-related back pain. Here are some tips on how to use a bonger when giving your next massage.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Grip the handle of the bonger massage tool with one hand. Using your other hand find the knot or muscle that is knotted.
Step2
Gently hit the other person with the bonger massage tool. Everyone's tolerance for intense touch is different and the bonger can hurt if you really whack someone with it. So be sure to increase the force based on your partner's response.
Step3
Massage the muscle with your other hand after you hit it with the bonger. This will help continue to loosen the snarled fibers.
Step4
Push the ball into the muscle. You don't just have to hit the other person with the bonger, you can use the firm shape of the ball to press into the muscle as well.

Tips & Warnings

  • There is no wrong way to really use the bonger. (Just like there is no wrong way to give a massage). It's all about the other partner. As long as they are comfortable, you are doing it right.
  • Experiment with holding the bonger by the metal neck as well. It will give you more accurate control of the bonger.
  • Do not use a bonger on the kidneys. It can be quite dangerous; avoid that area altogether.
