Financial Peace University is a financial counseling and training program based on Dave Ramsey's financial advice. Many couples who attend Financial Peace University together report that it helped not only their finances, but their marriages as well. Those who take the 13-session course also report dumping debt and saving cash during the course. Here's how to maximize your own experience.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Locate a class. Look for information about class locations on Dave Ramsey's website.

  2. Step 2

Register through the web site or by contacting your local Financial Peace University coordinator to learn the next session start date. You can purchase your class materials through your local coordinator or from Dave Ramsey's website.

  3. Step 3

Bring your spouse or financial partner to the class. It is important to attend Financial Peace University together so that you can set goals and discuss your money as a team.

  4. Step 4

Do your class homework. Read the Financial Peace Revisited book chapters as assigned. Make a zero-based budget as instructed; tweaking it as necessary.

  5. Step 5

Budget every month while you are in class. The habits learned at Financial Peace University carry over after the class is finished. Get on track while you have the support system in place.

  6. Step 6

Use the online tools, Gazelle Budget software and community forum at the Financial Peace University members-only section of Dave Ramsey's website. Each of these elements is designed to compliment and enhance the lessons learned in class.

  7. Step 7

Bring a friend to observe a class for free. Share your Financial Peace journey with others by inviting your friends or family members to sit in on a class and consider attending Financial Peace University themselves.

  8. Step 8

Dump debt, save money and build wealth using the principles you learned at Financial Peace University.

Tips & Warnings
  • Attend Financial Peace University again as a refresher course for free. Once you become a member by taking the course, you can attend again for free at any location at any time, using the materials from your first course.
