Step 1
Decide what type of music you want played at your party: old school original punk or new pop punk. For a crowd with mixed ages, make sure to have a good selection of each generation's favorites as well as some bootlegs or hard-to-find live versions of your own favorites.
-
Step 2
Go to retail stores to find newer pop/punk tracks from bands such as Green Day, Alkaline Trio, The Briefs, Anti-Flag, Blink 182, My Chemical Romance and The Used.
-
Step 3
Search smaller indie record stores for a larger selection of non-mainstream music and LPs from bands such as The Clash, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Buzzcocks, Rancid, Misfits and Agent Orange.
-
Step 4
Browse web sites such as interpunk.com or smartpunk.com, which give reviews and sell CDs online. Order your music online and have it shipped to you for a reasonable price—this is a great option if you live in a town with limited music store resources but still prefer physical albums rather than digital songs.
-
Step 5
Download digital versions from web sites such as iTunes or downloadpunk.com. You can play the tracks through an mp3 player or burn them onto CDs, creating your own mixes and play lists.
