Step 1
Schedule an appointment with an optometrist. You need to have a prescription in order to buy any type of contact lenses.
-
Step 2
Ask your optometrist if he has unusual contact lenses available. If not, you may want to try a different optometrist or plan to purchase them online.
-
Step 3
Request to try on any unusual contact lenses that your optometrist may have available when you go to your check-up appointment. You can get a better idea of what looks good on you. Tell the optometrist why you would like to buy unusual contact lenses so he can suggest what type would be best for you.
-
Step 4
Listen to the optometrist assistant explain the care and cleaning of your lenses. There are different types of contact lenses which require different care. Since you are buying unusual lenses which you may want to use only on special occasions, ask the assistant how long they can be stored.

Step 5
Buy your lenses from your optometrist or from an online website that offers unusual lenses. Make note of the return policy. You should be able to return packages that are unopened.
