One time honored method of fighting stress is to indulge in a little pampering. Whether you choose to relax in a hot tub like the ancient Greek and Egyptians or go "Eastern" with some meditation, taking good care of yourself will allow you to fight the effects of stress that surround you every day.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Bath salts or oils
  • Candles
  • Body lotion or oil
  • Herb-filled satin pillows
  • CDs or radio

In the Bathroom

Step1
Fill the tub. Relaxing in a warm bath is a tradition that goes back as far as the ancient Egyptians. Add bath salts or oils to add an additional layer of pampering to your bath.
Step2
Light a candle or two. Bathing by candle light can be very relaxing. Lie back in the warm water and focus on the flickering light of the candles to rid yourself of the stress of your day.
Step3
Finish well. Slather yourself with body lotion or oil after your bath to extend the pampering and relaxation through the rest of your day.

In the Bedroom

Step1
Clean your room. Keeping the surfaces of your dresser and other furniture clear, decreases your stress by removing the clutter that can interrupt your pampering time.
Step2
Add embroidered satin pillows stuffed with herbs to your bed. Calming herbs like hops or lavender will help you relax and sleep soundly.
Step3
Turn on your music. Play your favorite tunes quietly in the background to create a soothing and relaxing atmosphere.

Out in the World

Step1
Turn off the phone and spend some time completely alone. Avoid calls, text messages and emails. Use this time to take a few deep breaths and do something you love.
Step2
Breathe. Take a deep breath through your nose, hold it for a few seconds and blow it out slowly through your mouth. This fills your body with oxygen, the fuel you need to fight stress.
Step3
Exercise. The best antidote to stress is exercise. Spend 20 minute every day walking, running or swimming to enjoy maximum relaxation throughout the rest of the day.
