Step 1
Clean the door frame of your dishwasher. Clear out fallen food and water calcification buildup. Then check the seal to make sure the debris did not weaken the seal.
-
Step 2
Seal gaps in the door frame. Prevent water from leaking out of the dishwasher from a weakened gasket or seal. Replace damaged gaskets by unscrewing them and taking a piece into the hardware store. Contact the manufacturer if the hardware store does not carry your gasket. Soak the gasket in hot water to add flexibility and then install the new gasket.
-
Step 3
Clean clogged food out of the water sprayer or catch drain. Pull the leftovers out with your fingers or pull the whole catch drain out if it is removable. Clean the catch out and remove any slimy build up. Clean the sprayer in vinegar to remove calcification build up.
-
Step 4
Prevent rust on the machine. Check for nicks in the machine and cover them with a plastic coating material or sealant. This prevents premature rusting of the dishwasher.
-
Step 5
Level the dishwasher. Open the dishwasher and place a level on the opened door or drawer. Adjust the feet by crewing them one way or the other. This prevents leaks.
-
Step 6
Pour vinegar and detergent into the machine and send it through a cleaning cycle. Keep the dishwasher clean enough to clean dishes.
