The Toledo Museum of Art, located just west of downtown Toledo, Ohio, holds a varied collection of art that ranges from Medieval to Contemporary. Highlights of the museum include its large glass collection and its 19th and 20th century European paintings. Founded in 1901 by Libbey Glass founder Edmund Drummond Libbey and his wife, the neo-classical museum is a must-see for anyone traveling to Northwest Ohio.

Step1
Plan a trip to Toledo Ohio. Toledo, located about an hour from Detroit and 2 hours from Cleveland by car, is easily accessible from all over the Midwest. Visitors can also fly into Toledo Express Airport, located on the city's southwest side.
Step2
Tour the museum's permanent collection. The Toledo Museum of Art houses over 30,000 pieces of art in its 35 galleries. Exhibits include everything from early African art to contemporary art installations. Admission to the museum is free.
Step3
Explore the Glass Pavilion. Located across the street from the main building, the Glass Pavilion, opened in 2006, houses the museum's extensive art glass collection. As you would expect in the "Glass Capital of the U.S," Toledo's museum holds examples of Tiffany, Corning and Libbey glass as well as pieces from all over the world, dating from biblical times to the present.

Enjoy a temporary exhibit. The Toledo Museum of Art hosts a regular schedule of temporary exhibits, many of which are offered at no cost to the public. Recent shows have included silk screens by Andy Warhol and prints by Elizabeth Catlett.

Walk around the Old West End. After your visit to the museum, save time for a stroll around the Old West End, the neighborhood adjacent to the Toledo Museum of Art. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it 's the largest collection of restored Victorian, Edwardian and Arts & Crafts homes in the United States.
