How to Use a Bluetooth Headset With a Treo 650

Your Treo 650 comes equipped with Bluetooth technology so that you can use a hands-free headset with your smartphone. To learn how to use a Bluetooth headset with your Treo 650, follow these steps.

    Pairing a Bluetooth Headset With a Treo 650

  1. Step 1

    Open the applications menu by selecting the button that looks like a house on the upper left side of the keypad. Select "Bluetooth" from that menu.

  2. Step 2

    Select "Setup devices" and the select "Trusted devices" to setup a connection between your Treo and you Bluetooth headset.

  3. Step 3

    Make sure the Bluetooth headset is on. Then select "Add a device" from the Bluetooth screen on your Treo 650.

  4. Step 4

    Select the device you want to pair with your Treo, in this case the Bluetooth headset, and then select "Done." You have now created a trusted pair between your Treo 650 and your Bluetooth headset.

  5. Step 5

    Select "Setup devices" and then "Hands-free setup." The screens will walk you through the process of setting up your Bluetooth headset. When you are done, close the Bluetooth screen and you are ready to receive calls through your headset.

    Open the applications menu and select the Bluetooth icon.

  8. Step 2

    Select "On" from the Bluetooth menu and select the device you'd like to connect with. This will be the device you paired in the first section.

    Select "Discoverable" and then select yes or no. Selecting yes means that your Treo can connect with any device that has a Bluetooth connection regardless of whether you've made it a trusted pair. Selecting no mean that your Treo can only work with devices you have made trusted pairs.

Tips & Warnings
  • Calls will automatically be routed to your Bluetooth hands-free device when it is in range. You can change the call to the handset by select the icon that looks like a set of headphones. You will now only hear the call in the handset.
  • Always keep the headset within 8 to 10 feet of the phone to make sure the devices can still communicate. And make sure there are no solid objects such as a wall or furniture, between your Bluetooth headset and your Treo.
  • Keep the Treo on the same side as your Bluetooth headset.
  • Make sure your Bluetooth headset is properly charged or else it will not connect to your Treo.
  • If you are in an area with a lot of radio interference, your Bluetooth connection will also have interference.
