Step 1
Check to make sure your fiber optic TV is turned on and plugged in if your screen is completely blank and you're not receiving any sound. Also make sure that your outlet is not controlled by a light switch on the wall.
-
Step 2
Make sure that the TV is on channel 3 if you have a converter but no picture or sound or a fuzzy TV screen. Also check that the converter is plugged in to a live electrical outlet. If you're receiving power to the converter but it is still not working then it will need to be exchanged.
-
Step 3
Verify that the VCR is on and fine tuned to channel 3 if you're getting a scrambled picture. Check the TV's horizontal and vertical hold. If you're using a converter make sure the TV is also on channel 3.
-
Step 4
Tighten any loose connectors on the cable connected to the TV and/or VCR if your picture has snow on it. Turn off your VCR if it is on. If anyone has been digging in your yard it's possible that a fiber optic cable line could have been accidentally cut.
-
Step 5
Call your cable company if you have a problem with your reception and your power has recently gone off. You can also call your cable company if you recently bought a new TV or VCR and if your cable isn't working. A technician can help troubleshoot and walk you through to make sure it's hooked up correctly.
