Losing money while traveling can interrupt travel plans and be distressing. Whether you have spent it frivolously or you actually lost the money, either way it is not a good situation. Becoming broke while traveling can turn a great trip into an awful trip in a flash. Follow these tips to keep your money in your wallet and spend only what you need to enjoy your travel abroad.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Leave what you do not need in your hotel room safe. When we have money in our hands, we tend to spend it easily on a whim. The "out of sight, out of mind" rule applies here. If you do not have it in front of you, then you will not spend it.
Step2
Book budget motel or hotel rooms. Check online travel package websites and look for room discounts. Many hotels offer a cheaper price if you book online as well. Inns and motels are the best way to save money while traveling.
Step3
Stay away from luxury shops, expensive restaurants and casinos. Being tempted is always a problem when losing money is concerned. Sometimes when we crave something we will do anything to have it.
Step4
Book your travel in the off-season. If you book your room, flight and car within the high season, you might incur extra charges because it is a popular time for travel. Avoid traveling on holidays like spring break time and Christmas.
Step5
Leave your credit cards at home. Only take the cash you need when you want to go shopping or out on the town. Credit cards are always an easy choice when you're tempted to buy expensive things. Avoid carrying them with you and developing a massive credit bill and losing more money.
