How to Fix a Chipped Porcelain Tub

Things You'll Need
- Sand paper (220 grit)
- Resin filler
- Paint brushes
- Nail polish remover or another solvent
- Cotton swab
- Oil-based paint

Sand the chipped area with sand paper. Do this until the rusted area is gone and the area is smooth. Once sanded, clean and dry the area completely.

Cover the hole with a resin filler. You may find this at a local home and garden center. Apply the resin with a paint brush.

Allow the resin to dry for approximately 15 to 30 minutes.

Continue to apply layers of resin until it is level with the surrounding area. Dry after each application.

Blend the surrounding area with the damaged spot with a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover.

Match the color of the porcelain with an oil based paint so you can paint the matching color onto the damaged area.

Allow all paint and resin areas to completely dry before using the tub again.

Tips & Warnings
Open doors and windows when applying the resin. Keep it as well-ventilated as possible.
Paint light coats over the chipped area rather then a thick patching.
Porcelain is very sharp. Be cautious when cleaning up the dustings and working in surrounding areas.
Work solely in the chipped area. You do not want to scratch surrounding areas.
