How to Play Chase the Ace Card Game

Chase the Ace is a fun kid's card game. It has also been played by adults with different variations added and usually involving gambling. The following steps will show you how to play the basic Chase the Ace kid's version of this game.

Things You'll Need

• 5-20 players
• Deck of cards
• Poker chips

Instructions

1. Remove the jokers from the deck and shuffle and cut the cards. Deal one card to each player around the table and put all the rest of the cards to one side, which will be the "stock pile." Give each player three poker chips.

2. Look at your card. If you are the player to the dealer's left, be the first to decide if you will keep your card or trade it with the player on your left side. Try to get the lowest card that you can-the ace being the high card.

3. Give your card to the player on your right if they ask for it during their turn. You cannot say no.

4. Go around the circle until you get back to the dealer. The dealer then can either keep his card or decide to lay it face up next to the stock pile, which will start the "discard pile." If he chooses to do the latter, he must then pick the top card from the stock pile.

5. Turn your card face up along with the other players in the game. Put one of your poker chips in the middle of the table if you are in possession of the highest card.

6. Add the cards to the discard pile and start a new round. The player on the left of the dealer becomes the new dealer and deals a card to each person. Keep playing until the chips are gone.

7. Win the game if you are the only one remaining at the table left with chips.

Tips & Warnings

• A variation to this game is when a player throws down a two before trading begins, everyone is stuck with the card they are holding and cannot trade that round.

• Another variation is to have the bearer of the lowest card put a chip in the pile instead of the highest card. In this game, the ace will be the low card and the king will be the high card. If you choose to add the other variation, whoever throws down the king will cause all players to have to keep their own cards.
