In Hotmail, sometimes if someone sends an e-mail message to you and a lot of other people at the same time, it will go to your Junk E-Mail folder instead of your regular Inbox and you may never see it. You can create a Safe List of e-mail addresses in Hotmail. Messages sent from addresses on this list will never end up in your junk mail folder.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Hotmail e-mail account
  1. Step 1

Go into your Hotmail account. Sign in by putting in your username and password.

  2. Step 2

Choose an e-mail address to add to your Safe List. Copy the e-mail address from an e-mail received or from your contacts list by highlighting the address and left clicking your mouse or pushing "Ctrl" (control) and then "C" on your keyboard at the same time.

  3. Step 3

Click "Options" which is on the top right-hand corner of the screen next to the "Help" link.

  4. Step 4

Click "Mail." This will be the second link on the list of five links to the far left side of the Options page.

  5. Step 5

Click "Junk E-Mail Protection," which will be the first link under "Mail Options."

  6. Step 6

Click "Safe List." This will be the fifth link in the six links listed in the middle of the page.

  7. Step 7

Paste the address you copied into the box that says "Type an address or domain" by left clicking your mouse or pushing "Ctrl" and then "V" at the same time. Click "Add" which is to the right of the box. Your e-mail address has successfully been added to the Safe List.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also type in a domain name to put on your Safe List. For example if you type "hotmail.com," you will receive any e-mail from an address with hotmail.com as a domain name in your inbox and the messages will never go to junk mail.
  • You can also delete e-mail addresses on this Safe List by clicking the box next to the address you wish to remove and clicking "Delete" underneath the MSN logo on the left side of the screen.
