With rising prices in gasoline, food, and even stamps, consumers look for deals wherever they can find them. If you're flying out of town for business or pleasure, once you've reached your final destination, you might need a rental car. Rental cars can be expensive. Coupons can help defray some of the cost.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Stay alert to junk mail. At least once per month, most of us receive the envelope filled with coupons for discounts on carpet cleaning, pizza and house cleaning. Watch for coupons for car rentals. These can be valuable, especially for the business traveler.
Step2
Peruse the newspaper and magazines for coupons as well as online sites. See the Resources section below.
Step3
Make sure coupons have not expired. There's nothing like becoming excited about a deal only to find out your coupon is no good, especially if you haven't reserved your car online. Imagine being at the rental car counter when you find out you have to pay the full price. Be diligent about checking expiration dates.
Step4
Comparison shop. The goal is to save money with a reliable deal. You can do this at the websites from the Resources section and also at the Orbitz website as well.
Step5
Chose the company where you wish to reserve your car.
Step6
Log onto the website and chose the city where you will pick up your car, the date, and the type of car, and verify that you are 25 or older. Type in coupon code.
Step7
Review the display of information of the location of the rental place, the time when the agreement begins and ends, operation hours, total cost for how long you'll be renting the car.
Step8
Fill in your name, home phone number, credit card number, and email address in the provided spaces.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although you can vote at 21, most car rentals require their customers to be at least 25 years of age. If you are military and 18, or if you're an employee of the U.S. Government and on official business, you can make arrangements to rent a car at a discounted price.
