Step 1
Network with other magicians and find out what clubs or magic societies they've joined. If there aren't any in your local area, consider starting one. Club members might even form a magic troupe and perform shows at schools, hospitals or parties.
-
Step 2
Check websites dedicated to performing or learning magic tricks. These sites often have links to magic clubs throughout the world. If you can't find one in your town, join a group as a virtual member to trade tips and tricks.
-
Step 3
Join the Society of American Magicians if you're serious about a career as a magician. This organization sponsors a convention, a magic week and publishes a monthly magazine. They offer scholarships, a film and tape library and other assistance for members. The International Magicians Society is another popular networking group for magicians.
-
Step 4
Consider enrolling your fledgling magician son or daughter in S.Y.M., the Society of Young Magicians, which is a national organization for magicians under 16. This group provides all the tools, trick advice and support an up-and-coming magician needs.
-
Step 5
Keep practicing and performing. The more you know, the better chance you have of using a magic club as a springboard to more gigs and more money as a magician.
