Many pregnant women can't wait to find out their baby's gender. There are many ways to predict a baby's gender. Of course, the only truly accurate way to predict gender is to get a sonogram; however, it can be a lot of fun to use old wive's tales and other predictors to determine whether you're having a baby boy or a baby girl.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Follow the Chinese gender predictor calendar to predict your baby's gender. Enter the age of the mother at conception and the month the baby was conceived. The calendar will show you if you are likely to have a boy or a girl. This method is said to be over 90% accurate, but remember that it's just for fun.
Step2
Predict boy or girl by how you are carrying your baby. It's said that if the mother's carrying the baby like a watermelon with extra weight around the hips and thighs, it's a girl. It's a boy if the mother is carrying the baby like a basketball and the extra weight is in the front.
Step3
Add the mother's age at time of conception with the number of the month in which she conceived to get another predictor of the baby's gender. Odd numbers are said to predict girls and evens to predict boys.
Step4
Assess your sweet tooth as another predictor. Pregnant women carrying girls are said to crave sweets such as chocolate, fruits and orange juice. Mothers of boys crave salty foods and meat.
Step5
Tie a ring to the end of a thread and hold it over a pregnant woman's belly. If the ring moves back and forth, it's a boy. It's a girl if the ring swings in a circular motion.
Step6
Ask to see an expectant mom's hands. If she shows her hands palms up, the baby is a girl. It's a boy if she shows her hands face down.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't start painting the baby room just yet. These are a lot of fun but should be used for entertainment only. Remember, they all have a 50-50 chance of being right!
