A homemade monster is a great addition to any Halloween décor. Making a monster at home is easy and can be fun for everyone. There are many well-known creatures the monster can look like, such as Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster or the Wolf Man.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 pieces of wood
  • Nails
  • Wire
  • Pillowcase
  • 1 pair gloves
  • Old clothes
  • Wig or yarn for hair
  • Straw or batting for stuffing
  • Paint
  1. Step 1

Select the type of monster to be created. Find clothing suitable for your creation.

  2. Step 2

Decide where to put the monster. The front porch or out in a garden are perfect places. Hanging it from a tree is another option.

  3. Step 3

Make a cross by nailing two pieces of wood, about 3 feet long, one slightly longer than the other. The horizontal piece will form the arms while the vertical piece supports the torso.

  4. Step 4

Put a shirt over the cross frame and stuff with straw or batting. Stuff the pants and attach them with wire to the shirt. Fill the stomach area of the monster until the waistband of the pants is tight. You can use an old pillow to form the stomach. Use wire to attach gloves as hands.

  5. Step 5

Paint the pillowcase to look like the face of a monster. Permanent paints work best for outside. Stuff the pillowcase. Attach the hair to the head of the monster securely. Use wire to secure the head to the body.

  6. Step 6

Position the monster in a scary pose.

Tips & Warnings
  • A thrift store or a home closet is a great place to find clothes for the monster.
  • Use a mask for a scarier face.
