Step 1
Mop a newly-installed bamboo floor. The mop should be lightly dampened with a cleaner specifically for hardwood floors and should be wax-free.
-
Step 2
Remove dirt and dust by frequently sweeping with a soft-bristled broom or using a vacuum for bare floors. Clean rugs often to avoid dust and dirt build-up on the floors.
-
Step 3
Install floor protectors under the legs of heavy furniture. This will not only protect the floor, but it will keep the furniture from sliding on the floor's surface.
-
Step 4
Place mats at door entrances to minimize dirt being tracked across the flooring. Use a rubber, no-skid pad to protect the floor from scratching and reduce sliding.
-
Step 5
Avoid wearing high-heeled shoes on the bamboo flooring. Scuff marks can be removed by rubbing a cloth dampened with wood floor cleaner onto the marks, but dents permanently scar your floor.
-
Step 6
Avoid sliding furniture across the flooring to prevent deep scratches that would require major repair.
-
Step 7
Consider using a home humidifier to maintain a 30 to 50 percent humidity level. High humidity levels can crack the boards, and low humidity levels can shrink the planks.
