Sending a bereavement gift is a wonderful way to show the deceased's family how much you care. Although you can send flowers, this is not your only choice. There are numerous gifts that you can send that will honor the dead and allow their memory to live on.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find out where the bereavement gift should be sent. If the deceased has a widow, send it to the home. For the unmarried, send the gift to the closest living relative's home.

  2. Step 2

Look out for any special requests. Within an obituary, there may be certain requests regarding bereavement gifts. The family may request that flowers not be sent and that mourners should instead send a donation to the deceased's favorite charity.

  3. Step 3

Send a personalized stepping stone. These stones can be placed in the garden and feature a message of love about the deceased. It can also be engraved with the name of the lost loved one along with their birth and death date.

  4. Step 4

Pick out an engraved ornament. Ornaments can be hung on a Christmas tree and can be a special bereavement gift to send during the holiday season.

  5. Step 5

Arrange a memorial tree in their honor. A memorial tree can be a comfort to the deceased's family and allows them to remember their loved one whenever they gaze upon the tree.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that the mourning family has the space and ability to plant a memorial tree before you send one.
  • Don't send religious bereavement gifts to mourners of a different faith or that are agnostic. They may be put off by the gesture.
