How to Recover from a Miscarriage
Physical and mental recovery after a miscarriage can take some time. The length of your pregnancy at the time of miscarriage factors greatly in how long it will take you to physically recover. Complete recovery from a miscarriage may take a long time.

1
Expect bleeding after the miscarriage. You need to use sanitary napkins since tampons can not be placed in the vagina after a miscarriage. Bleeding may last a week or more after a miscarriage.
-
2
Prevent infection by following your doctor's orders. Your doctor should tell you to avoid sex and douching. An antibiotic might also be prescribed and the full course should be taken.
-
-
3
Use ice packs on your breasts. It is likely that your breasts will feel tender following the miscarriage if you were in your second trimester or later. Use ice packs to alleviate any discomfort.
-
4
Get emotional support from loved ones. A miscarriage is a mentally draining experience that may leave you feeling anxious, depressed or lost. You need to lean on your friends and family to get you through this time.
-
5
Talk to a counselor. If you feel that you need professional help, ask for a referral to a therapist from your doctor.

Tips & Warnings
Call your doctor immediately if you experience very heavy bleeding, light headedness, contractions or a fever.
Don't perform any type of strenuous exercise after suffering a miscarriage. Begin a mild exercise routine once you feel able to.
Don't rush into another pregnancy after a miscarriage. Give yourself time to physically and mentally recover.
