Stroller fitness has swept the nation as more moms are looking for a way to work off their extra baby weight, meet other new moms and spend time with baby. There are companies offering stroller fitness classes in major cities around the country, but what if you live in a more rural area? Use these steps to learn more about stroller fitness and how to join or create one.

From Quick Guide: Working off Baby Weight
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read up on stroller fitness first to make sure that it is something you are physically able to do. Visit the Stroller Strides and StrollerFit websites to learn more about the exercises involved in stroller fitness classes and groups.

  2. Step 2

Call your local health club and ask about stroller fitness classes they offer or stroller fitness clubs they may know about. Even if the person at the desk doesn't have any information, most health clubs and gyms have a wall where they hang flyers for different activities and events in the community. Check this wall.

  3. Step 3

Ask the moms at your playgroup, church or anywhere else you see them. Ask your obstetrician or your baby's pediatrician as they may also have information on local stroller fitness clubs. Once you find one, there is usually a schedule and possibly a fee to join.

  4. Step 4

Start your own stroller fitness club. Become familiar enough with the exercises that you could show them to other moms. Put out flyers about your new group and get everyone together at a park for a great workout!

Tips & Warnings
  • For a better workout for both you and baby, make sure that baby is well-rested, fed and happy before heading out to the park.
  • Never start a new workout routine without the advice of your doctor and especially if you are still recovering from delivery or a c-section.
