Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide on the placement of your chair within your home or office. The style and features of the chair may vary based on space or location. Formal chairs with wide backs will require more space for use in a dining room. A chair with a low back and small seat might be great for a side chair in an office.

  2. Step 2

Select the type of style that you prefer for your Windsor chair. Options range from a sack, fan, low or hoop-back chairs. You can also select either a chair with armrests or ones without, or if you plan to purchase multiple chairs, you may opt to use a combination of chairs.

  3. Step 3

Chose the type of carving included on your chair. Chairs that are more ornate will reflect intricate carving and less formal chairs will have minimal carving, if any.

  4. Step 4

Determine the type of spindle shapes based on your preference. Plain spindles with little curvature; carving or indentions will provide you with a different look than those with more design.

  5. Step 5

Pick your wood stain color from the many available options. You may also choose to paint the wood to give you more options for matching or complimenting the room where you intend to use your Windsor chair.
