How to Stay Monogamous

Staying monogamous does not have to be difficult. People tend to think they are trapped once they commit their heart, soul and body to another person. Commitment is viewed in a negative fashion sometimes, and it might be just that an individual is not ready yet to commit to someone. Relationships can be honest, and people can remain faithful.

Difficulty: Easy

Instructions

  1. 1

Make sure you are ready to be monogamous. Think of how you feel about this person you love. Ask yourself if you can commit to your partner and be faithful, or if you still want to be with other people. Then decide what you are ready for.

  2. 2

Question yourself in the moment. If you are with someone and then you feel tempted by someone or a stranger, ask yourself what you are feeling at that moment. Ask yourself if you would want to give up the relationship you have for a fling.

  3. 3

Talk to your partner about your relationship. It is good to always check in with each other and see how you are both feeling about your relationship. This discussion can also create intimacy between you and build a stronger bond.

  4. 4

Be and act monogamous and faithful. Tell yourself this person is the one for you. Talk yourself through moments of weakness and remind yourself of how much your partner means to you.

  5. 5

Hang out with monogamous friends. Sometimes we can become weak if we are around people who choose to be unfaithful to their partners. Make sure you have a healthy and honest influence between you and your friends. Relationships are meant to be treasured, not hurtful.
