The Scudder Technique is an energy-based intervention that is said to release stagnant energy from the body, promoting greater flow and relaxation. The procedure is used in accordance with Healing Touch and is calming and gentle for both the giver and receiver. Learn this revitalizing technique by reading the steps below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Stand behind your client and center yourself. Your client should be seated in a chair with their shoes and socks removed. Visualize energy being pulled up from the earth through your spine and spreading throughout your body. When you feel the calm flow of healing energy, proceed to the next step.
Step2
Brush the client's brow line three times lightly with your hands. Ask them to close their eyes, and then brush three times across their eyelids.
Step3
Begin at the top of the head and brush down around the ears giving a light tug on the lobes (three times). Next, brush from the tip of the chin three times up the jaw and behind the ears.
Step4
Move to your patient's left side and support their arm with their thigh or a chair arm. Brush down their shoulder three times to the inside of the elbow. Next, brush from their elbow three times to the palm. Massage the palm and fingers for several seconds by grasping each finger gently and pull down and away to remove excess energy.
Step5
Continue the Scudder Technique by brushing away the client's suprasternal notch (small depression above the sternum and between the clavicular notches). Brush down the sternum to the waist and over to the left hip joint three times.
Step6
Start at the hip joint and brushing down the leg to the back of the knee. Continue to brush from the knee to the inner arch of the left foot. Massage the foot and toes grasping each toe with your fingers lightly, tugging off any access energy.
Step7
Repeat steps four through six with your client's right side.
Step8
Ask your client to bend forward in their chair and brush their back. Begin at the base of their spine brushing up and outwards until you reach the neck area. Complete the Scudder Technique by lightly chopping the top of the shoulders (trapezius muscle). Then brush from the base of the neck out to the shoulders.
