Trillian is a chat program that allows you to use AIM, ICQ, MSM, Yahoo! Messenger and IRC all in one application. The setup for Trillian is simple and the interface is easy to use. Here is how you can use Trillian to organize all your chatting in one easy-to-use application.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Download and install Trillian from the Cerulean Studios website. You can find the download link under the "Downloads" button on the Cerulean Studios page. Once the installer is downloaded, open it and proceed through the installation steps.
Step2
Go through the initial setup the first time you launch the application. Choose the Trillian Basic option on the first screen unless you decided to buy the Pro version. Choose a nickname and an icon to represent you on the next page. Choose which instant messengers you would like to associate with Trillian. Proceed through the next pages, where you will enter your login information for each. You can sign up for the different messengers by clicking the button at the bottom of the window.
Step3
Add people to your contacts by clicking on the "Trillian" menu at the top of the program and selecting the "Add Contact or Group" option. You can add new contacts or import contacts from another program. Choose which instant messenger you want to add and which contact list you want to use. You can create a new contact group in this window as well.
Step4
Send an instant message to a contact by double-clicking their name in your contacts list. A window will pop up that you can type into and send to the other person. When they reply, their response will be shown in the same window.
Step5
Set up your preferences in the "Trillian Preferences" window under the "Trillian" menu. You can manage your connections, set how notifications work, designate file transfer destinations and install plugins through the preferences menu.
