Step1
Get an application from the Nevada State Board of Cosmetology and fill it out. You must also provide proof of age and proof that you have completed at least the 10th grade.
Step2
Study for the written exam and practice for the practical exam. The exam will cover the following areas: manicure, pedicure, wrapping, fingernail extensions, haircutting, chemical treatments, hot work, facial makeup and brow arching, shampoo, sanitation and safety and state laws and regulations.
Step3
Register for the written exam. You must also provide proof that you have completed your required training (this could be a transcript from the beauty school you attended), the acceptance letter sent to you with the date and time of your written exam and photo identification. Results will be sent to you after 3 weeks.
Step4
Pay the fees. The fees for the licensing process are $75 for exams and a license fee, the cost of which depends on when you get it. They prorate the amount of the biennial fee.
