From Quick Guide: Hot Breakfast Recipes
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 6 cups of chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 2 cups of regular grits
  • 16 ounces of cubed cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup of whole milk
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 stick of unsalted butter
  • 8-10 ounces of grated sharp white Cheddar cheese
  1. Step 1

Assemble everything you need to make the cheese grits dish. Pre-measure and pour the correct amount for each ingredient in the recipe to save time and avoid accidents while cooking. Once the grits start cooking, you must watch them closely to make sure the pot doesn't boil over

  2. Step 2

Bring two cups of water to a boil. Add one cup of grits at a time, stirring occasionally. Cook according to the package's directions.

  3. Step 3

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 1-quart casserole baking dish.

  4. Step 4

Add the cooked grits, 8 ounces of shredded sharp cheddar cheese, ½ cup of butter, 3 well-beaten eggs and 1/3 cup of milk.

  5. Step 5

Fold the grits casserole over into itself twice. Don't turn more than twice, as this may dry the casserole.

  6. Step 6

Pour the casserole into the buttered baking dish.

  7. Step 7

Bake the uncovered cheese grits casserole for 45 minutes, or until the top starts bubbling.
