How to Use Rubber Cement

Rubber cement is a liquid used to adhere easily wrinkled materials, such as paper. The compounds in the adhesive include liquids that evaporate after application, leaving behind particles that bond. As rubber cement dries, it does not wrinkle or soak through paper like many other glues. An objects you cement can be easily removed without damage.

• Rubber cement

1. Prepare the materials you will be joining. They should be dry and as smooth as possible. Keep in mind that rubber cement works best on paper and photographs, and is not a reliable adhesive for other materials, such as wood or metal.

2. Apply the rubber cement using the brush attached to the inside of the lid of the bottle. The brush comes suspended in the rubber cement and ready to use.

3. Wait until the rubber cement has dried before continuing the project. The rubber cement will dry quickly.

Tips & Warnings

• Rubber cement has a relatively long shelf life. As it gets older, it will become thicker but will still continue to work. For best results, apply the cement as evenly as possible to ensure a smooth finish.

• You can pull apart the two materials you have adhered together. Starting at one corner, pull slowly and you should be able to remove the materials without damaging them.

• This product is dangerous if consumed, and should be kept away from children and pets. The product can also stain fabric, so exercise caution while using it.
