Study a few different African regions to see which spark your creative interest. You may prefer to combine your favorite elements of several regions into a general African theme.

Read magazines with information about the African regions in which you're interested. Also search the pages for design ideas you can bring into the room you're creating. The more you learn, the more meaning you're likely to find in your design choices.
Step3
Draw a layout of the room and take it with you whenever you're shopping for items to bring the African theme to life. Use the layout for your design notes and watch the masterpiece take shape on paper.
Step4
Make lists of colors to consider, items you wish to incorporate and essential tools you need for the transformation. As you find items deemed a must, you'll be better able to picture the finished product and have less trouble choosing extra items accordingly.
Step5
Put the design plans for your African inspired room into practice. There's no greater reward for your time, attention and hard work than viewing the finished product.
