How to Know if a Child has Dyspraxia

Detect dyspraxia as soon as you can. Don't put your kid through undue stress and frustration when programs are available to ease dyspraxia symptoms. Take note of your kid's activities, compare that to other kids, and take action immediately.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Get a general idea of how soon kids learn things. Some people learn things fast, some take a while to get it down. You may have a situation where two of your kids are quick learners and your third one takes a long time, and repeated instruction, to learn things.
Step2
Assess how well a kid is comforted and match their sleeping characteristics with their peers. Have a toy requiring assembly available. Don't give it to the kid--watch the reaction.
Step3
Look at current traits. Test their responses to change. Watch their reaction to new clothes. Have the kid sit in one place more than once, if he gets up in less than five minutes, then note it.
Step4
Note their reaction to stress; unusual anger issues are a warning sign. Take note of how often they collide with their surroundings.
Step5
Compare their table manners to that of other kids their age, if they're the only one that could benefit from a bib, it's time to consider seeking a diagnosis.
Step6
Go to the Dyspraxia USA web page and review the child symptoms for dyspraxia. Match those symptoms to the kid. Even if you find a match with one symptom, proceed to the doctor to get information and any help.
