Microsoft's Digital Image Pro photo editor allows the user to touch up, as well as delete and add to, a photo. You can add other people, backgrounds, borders and text to the photo of your choice. Add the date or list the people in the photo to remind you of what, when or who the picture is of. This is a great option when extended families take photos together.

From Quick Guide: Graphics Software
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the photo you wish to edit once you are in Digital Image Pro. Select "File," "Open" and browse your hard drive until you find the photo you want. Double click the file and it will appear on the screen in Digital Image Pro.

  2. Step 2

Edit your photo to clear up any discolorations or formatting issues. To do this quickly or if you haven't read how each edit tool works select "Touchup" from the top menu and select each Automatic tool that is available to you. Click one at a time and let the photo refresh after each touchup is completed.

  3. Step 3

Select each touchup tool separately and not the automatic tools if you know how to manipulate each tool to get the best resolution.

  4. Step 4

Click "Insert" and then "Text" after the picture is loaded. A text box will appear and you can type what you want into the box. Select the box by left clicking it once; a border will appear around the text box.

  5. Step 5

Resize the text box by selecting it and moving the mouse pointer to one of the corners. The mouse pointer will change into a slanted line with arrows on both sides. Left click the mouse and hold it down, dragging the box in or out to make it larger or smaller.

  6. Step 6

Move the text box where it fits your photo best. Select the box and move the mouse pointer around the text box until it changes to a cross hair pointer with arrows at all four ends. Left click and drag the box to it's new location.

  7. Step 7

Change the color of the text or font in the text box. Right click in the text box and select "Font." It will bring up a window of options that you can change. You are able to change the color, font, font size, spacing and the type of underlining if any. You can do this as many times as you like till you get just the look you want.

Tips & Warnings
  • CTRL-Z allows you to undo the editing you have just done. Each time you press this combination it will go back one step.
  • Don't save any edits as the same name as it's original. It is best to keep the photo or file that you started with in case you need to start over at another time.
