Step 1
Review the dress code for your telecommunications job. You can find the dress code in your employee manual. You may also find it helpful to review your job description before picking out any clothes for work.
-
Step 2
Select clothing that is appropriate for outdoor work if you are a telecommunications field technician. Your job includes climbing, squatting, working in extreme weather and working inside of people's homes. Your work wardrobe will need to be comfortable, flexible, durable and appropriate for the climate that you will be working in. Keep in mind that you will probably be assigned coveralls that will hide what you wear so you can wear just about anything that you want. Other items you will wear include: a hard hat, goggles, leather gloves, leather boots and ear protectors.
-
Step 3
Design a work wardrobe that is professional looking if you work as a customer service representative for a telecommunications company. If you work in an office where customers walk in, then you will want to be extra dressy, but still approachable. Select medium toned dress clothes, wear long pants or a skirt, a button down blouse or dress shirt, nylons or dress socks and dress shoes. If you work at a phone station where you won't see customers then your work clothes can be more casual.
-
Step 4
Dress to the nines if you work in management. As a figure head for the company you want to dress in higher end clothing with darker tones. Select navy blue or black suits, pants, skirts and dress shoes. Punch up your look with a splash of color in the form of a bold tie, scarf, camisole or belt.
-
Step 5
Dress to impress your customers if you have a sales position with a telecommunications company. When your job is to sell things to customers you want to look pulled together, clean, professional and approachable. To accomplish these goals select medium to dark tones of blue. This will create a trustworthy image that will help your customers feel comfortable when talking to you.
