Step1
Diet:
You had to know that diet would be the number one factor in living to be 100! You should eat 4 to 5 cups of fruit or vegetables a day. Your produce should be of the highest quality that you can afford, and the freshest that you can find too! Make the produce aisle your main destination when shopping and find local growers for the freshest produce available.
Step2
Exercise:
What is the point of living to be 100 if you can't move! You must move at least 30 minutes every day in order to keep your heart healthy. Find an exercise you enjoy and make it part of your routine. Add variations to your favorite exercise to keep your interest.
Step3
Support:
Formulate a support team instead of a complaint group. Find people with similar interests and encourage one another. Let them know your life goals and ask them to be your cheering squad! Don't forget the kids! They are great cheerleaders!
Step4
Go Green!
Nothing is more counter productive than eating healthy, but filling your home with chemicals that kill. Use natural products, especially cleaning products, whenever and wherever you can. Baking soda and vinegar are natural, safe and cheap cleanser.
Step5
Alcohol:
Experts have suggested alcohol is good for you, and others have said it is as bad for you. Who do you believe? If you drink one glass of red wine three times a week chances are you will reap the benefits that are being claimed. But you might want to skip the alcohol (which kills brains cells) and just eat red grapes!
Step6
Caffeine:
Caffeine is essentially a drug! Take control of something that is controlling you! As a drug, it takes more and more caffeine to get the buzz you seek, so wean yourself slowly off caffeine to help your heart and your stress levels.
Step7
Vitamins, Minerals and Supplements:
The story here is again mixed. Some people take handfuls of these pills a day and really all they are doing is making their septic tanks rich in vitamins and minerals. Some are even harmful in excess! Instead of taking a handful of costly, artificial nutrients, use the money to buy better quality food. Your body knows how to pull the nutrients out of food.
Step8
Stress Management:
Long-term stress leads to elevated cortisol levels, which results in heart disease and cancer. A good diet and regular exercise help to reduce stress levels. Adding quality years to your life!
Step9
Know your numbers:
All those numbers they give you at the doctor for blood pressure, good cholesterol, bad cholesterol, body mass index, you need to know these numbers. They are not empty numbers and with research you can easily lower or elevate the numbers as needed for good health.
Step10
Positive Attitude:
A positive attitude will take you far in life. It makes your life richer, your relationships richer and will actually give you a reason to live to be 100!
