Chilblains are ulcers that occur when an individual is exposed to cold and humidity.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Warm socks and gloves
  • Anti-itch creams, such as Calamine
  • A Healthy diet
  • Stop Smoking
  • Vitamin K

Step1
Keep the area warm and dry.
Step2
Wear socks and gloves Wear gloves and warm socks. Avoid cold exposure. Keeping the hands and feet warm and dry will help prevent this condition
Step3
No Smoking Make sure you have a healthy diet, and stop smoking (smoking decreases circulation and exacerbates chilblains). Get exercise to increase circulation.

Tips & Warnings

  • Taking Vitamin K, under the direction of a physician, can help.
  • Apply Calamine, or other anti-itch cream, to the area.
  • Don't scratch!
  • Chilblains can be serious! Get the advice of a physician!
