Gives you instructions on how to install a new hard drive to your computer

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Switch off PC and disconnect from the mains.

  2. Step 2

    Remove computer casing

  3. Step 3

    Setup hard disk jumper settings so that the hard disk should be on secondary/ slave drive. Make sure the hard disk containing the operating system is set to Primary/ Master settings.

  4. Step 4

    Fix hard disk to computer housing making sure that all the screws are tight.

  5. Step 5

    Connect hard disk to motherboard using cable

  6. Step 6

    Connect power cable from power supply unit to Hard disk.

  7. Step 7

    Re-fit computer casing

  8. Step 8

    Connect PC to mains, switch it on and when prompted save the new hardware configuration changes.

  9. Step 9

    Once windows starts up, logon into an administrator account and if the add new hardware wizard does not start automatically go to control panel and open the Add hardware wizard which will guide you through the rest of the installation process.

  10. Step 10

    Go to My computer after installation and the new hard disk must be present. If it is pre-formatted then you can use it right away but if not then you have to format it.
