Parties are important to teenagers, especially the all-important "Sweet 16" party. Other popular parties with teens are Birthday, School's Out, Back to School, Pre- or Post-Prom, Post Game and Homecoming. To ensure success make sure your teen is involved in the party planning process.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Talk to your teen, and decide what type of party she wants to have. The theme could be anything from a '50s party to a scary Halloween party.
Step2
Make out a guest list with your teen, and decide how many guests to invite.
Step3
Choose a location. You could have it in your home, a park or in a community building.
Step4
Shop at a party supply store for plates, cups and decorations in keeping with the chosen theme. Many party supplies can be purchased online at Party City or Party Supplies Hut (see Resources below).
Step5
Send invitations early and include RSVP information. Themed party invitations may be printed at your local print shop, ordered online at Vista Print or Party Invitations (see Resources below), or printed at home on specialty stationery.
Step6
Follow-up with those guests who have not responded by the RSVP deadline so that you have a good head count.
Step7
Make or purchase plenty of food and drinks. The teen stomach is often a bottomless pit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Ask other moms and dads to help.
  • Prepare as much food as possible ahead of time to save yourself some grief on party day.
