Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
Determine what model pedestal sink or new bidet is needed for the project. Consider the space allotted and the footprint of the new fixture compared to the bidet being replaced.
Step2
Check behind the bidet to locate all of the water inlet lines and roughed in plumbing areas. This is where the plumbing lines come through the wall to attach to the bidet. Often the lines must be extended or even shortened to accommodate the new fixture.
Step3
Shut off the water to the entire house before disconnecting any water lines or attempting to move the bidet. Next, shut off all water inlets to the bidet from behind the unit. There will be a cold water line and a hot water line with spigots to turn them off.
Step4
Using a crescent or pipe wrench, gently loosen and remove the water lines from behind the bidet. Leave them shut off, but keep them in place if they can be used for the replacement unit.
Step5
Remove and discard the old bidet, taking care not to damage the water outlet pipe. This drain evacuates water from the new unit.
Step6
Line up the new bidet or sink in the existing footprint. Connect the water lines. Make certain the outlet pipe is connected and securely tightened. Follow the new unit's installation guide.
Step7
Turn on the water to the house and check if any pipes need be re-tightening or aligning.
