Instructions

    • 1

Enroll at a university--you'll have to do a little research to find out which college has the best archeology programs, but you can start with the University of Pennsylvania, NYU, UCLA and Brown. Many universities offer programs that include time studying archeology in foreign countries. There are also many schools in other countries that value foreign students and seek to recruit them for studying in their part of the world. Research the different programs and apply for scholarships that may help you pay for your travels and your tuition expenses.

    • 2

Join an exchange--you can find good exchange programs through the colleges mentioned in Step 1 or through your own research. By connecting yourself with the right groups, you can get assistance in finding the right program for you. An exchange can help you locate different areas of the world in which to study, and can give you information on how to network with the right people in the right places.

    • 3

Apply for a grant. Government and school grants are available to those who apply and have a specific goal to study archeology abroad. You'll have to inquire about these grants through the financial aid department at the school you choose to go to. Whether you are wanting to study a certain aspect of the Aztec Indians in Mexico, or the Pharaohs in Egypt, there are people willing to pay your expenses for a valuable study.

    • 4

Join an established group. There are many archaeological research studies already in practice abroad. Ask local archaeologists for information about ongoing studies and go online to get connected to the right scientists that may need extra hands in their field research. This is a good way to learn from experts and study archeology abroad with established scientists.
