How to Be Ordained Online

You can become ordained as a minister online. After your ordination, you can peform weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies for your friends. Follow the tips below to perform the duties of a minister.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a website that will ordain you. The American Fellowship Church has been ordaining ministers since 1975, and the Universal Life Church Monastery has ordained them since 1959. Both are open to all religions and denominations.

    • 2

Fill out the online forms correctly. Put your full and legal name. How your name appears on the online forms is how it will appear on the ordination certificate or ID card.

    • 3

Get the minister's license or ID card as proof of ordination. Depending on the institution that ordained you, you may be able to print out the document, or the organization may have to send it through the mail. Some are free and some require fees.

    • 4

Pay the required fee. The American Fellowship Church and the Universal Life Church both charge for their services. Your costs will vary on other websites, but most are affordable.

    • 5

Consider getting training through online courses or purchasing ministry supplies. These are not required, but may be helpful if you're going to perform any ceremonies. They will cost additional fees.
