Step 1
Strengthen your "off" arm. Many basketball players struggle with their off hand because their off arm is weaker than their other arm. Do exercises that keep both arms strong. Test yourself and make sure there isn't a disparity between your arms. You can find arm exercises in the database at the MyFit website.

Step 2
Begin with dribbling exercises. Before you begin to learn how to shoot with either hand, begin simply with dribbling with your off hand. Get a basketball and go on a court and practice dribbling. This helps your coordination with your off hand.
-
Step 3
Practice shooting with your off hand. Start close to the basket and move yourself away from the basket until you get around the free throw line. Shoot continuously until you feel confident with your shot. Once you are confident with your stand still shots with you off hand, start shooting layups with your off hand. Repeat until you can make a good percentage of your layups with either hand.

Step 4
Play in actual basketball games and concentrate on only using your off hand. This can be very difficult at first, but it's a great way to teach yourself how to shoot with either hand. If you force yourself to shoot all shots with your off hand, eventually it becomes second nature.
